Ashland, Oregon, a town nestled in the foothills of mountain ranges, surrounded by beautiful rivers and granted perfect weather all year round is the epitome of the ideal living place. To further the fantasy, the ultimate fairytale dream home is now for sale in this remarkable town—situated on 700 acres of untouched land.
Completed in 2016, the Shining Hand Ranch is an 8,881–square-foot home, custom-built with a treehouse-style aesthetic.
According to the listing, the home was designed and built to honour and reflect the beauty of the land. There are few hard edges as the designers favoured curvy and organic forms. For example, the house features many plant and animal elements, including carvings of dragons, coyotes and eagles.
A pair of copper tree sculptures frames the arched mahogany doorway, according to Inhabitat. The doors open up to a spacious foyer, designed to emulate a forested riverbank. The granite floors look like a sandy riverbed, while river rock planters line the edge of the foyer and preserved Manzanita trees emerge from the walls in the adjacent dining room.
The timber staircases leading up to the second floor are carved in the shapes of trees and birds. The upper level has two bedrooms, including a master suite with a domed cedar ceiling and large windows that overlook the lush valley below. Even the windows have character—cut into the shapes of clouds and trees.
The house has a total of two bedrooms and five bathrooms, and is heated and cooled with geothermal energy.
The Shining Hand Ranch doesn’t come cheap however; the house is currently listed on Zillow for a steep $8,235,000.
A person can dream though. And this listing is exactly that—a dream house. Besides overlooking the surrounding mountains, including the top of Mount Shasta, this fairytale home sits in a wild, untamed environment. That means some of your neighbours could include golden eagles, red-tailed hawks, falcons, deer and elk.
