When we think of the future, our minds often go to hovering cars and teleportation- to science. We are slowly learning to put our faith in a better tomorrow through technology. But for some inspired scientists, this process is happening too slowly. Enter the realm of what I call “science cities,” cities that are built upon the axiom of progress, development and truth.
There are many of these popping up all over the world, just look back to my previous article on the Valhalla Movement or the futuristic city plans of The Venus Project. There is hope yet that slowly, more and more people will “wake up” and not only live a life of peace, sustainability and progress, but live in a community that values these ideals.
Horizon-1
While this is just an educational video and no Horizon-1 actually exists, it acts as an arrow pointing to a future of peace and sustainability.
The City of Mériens
This giant floating manta ray city is a city that is actually being designed right now by the architect Jacques Rougerie. The city’s name roughly translates to “City of Oceanites” and is a start to a globe dotted with intentionally-designed sustainable cities.
