This past August 2nd 2015 Spencer Seabrook, co-founder of Slacklife BC, successfully crossed the 64 meter-long, 290 meter high gap in The Chief Mountain located in Squamish BC.
Armed with nothing but his flailing arms, steady footsteps and sheer determination, Spencer stepped out onto the slack line with no safety harness.
Crossing the North Gully of the Stawamus Chief, Spencer experienced a couple of heart-wrenching falls that left him clinging to life on very narrow line. He remained focused, regained his footing and proceeded to break the previous world record Highline Freesolo originally set by Andy Lewis.
This gap named “The Itus” by Slacklife BC had held Spencer’s attention for quite a while, inspiring him to push his highline and longline feats further then ever before.
Once he had tensioned the straps with a line grip and high slide, he knew he was ready to step onto the strap with no harness and successfully brave the world record freesolo.
