What makes a kiss amazing? Is it the tongue-lip ratio, the softness factor, breath is important of course. But if you think back to your best kiss, you likely wouldn’t describe it in those terms but in the story surrounding it and who it involved.
In this, the season of love, people of Toronto answered one simple question, “what is the story behind the best kiss you’ve ever had?”
Josh
“It was a girl I had a crush on for a long time, we had been giving each other signals for a long time and neither of us made the move. Then one night she was going home on the subway and I jumped over the subway turnstiles and she was coming back up to see me and we met and we kissed.”
Cruz
“Mine was a hot one, she put hot sauce on her lips. The reason she did it was because it makes your lips fuller but she just came and gave me a kiss. I swear from that day on it was the hottest kiss I ever had. But honestly it hurt me though.”
Oriana
“It was my first one. This kid who I had a huge crush on and he walked me home and he kissed me and i was just like ‘oh yes.’”
Camille
“It was my first boyfriend and I was really nervous because I didn’t want to be embarking on a relationship with someone who couldn’t kiss. And we made out and in my head I was just like ‘thank God he’s a good kisser.’”
Paddy
“It was unexpected and it resulted in 40 years of marriage.”
Katie
“One of the best kisses was with a friend of mine who wasn’t even a significant other, he had just come back from being away for about a year. So he saw me and he was a really good friend of mine and he just gave me the most passionate loving friendly kiss and it was beautiful. Nothing came out of it but it was just so loving, just pure love.”

“The best kiss I have ever had would have to be on a beach in my hometown area. We really shouldn’t have been on the beach because there was a bad storm rolling in. It was the Atlantic Ocean and it was just one of those really romantic places to be with the storm rolling in just the two of us on a deserted beach. We were making out and a big thunder clap of lightning hit and it was like somebody knows were here.” – Lorraine
“The best kiss was the night we got engaged. We moved into our house that night and my husband was trying to be really romantic, he was like ‘let’s have wine’ but we had no wine glasses, ‘let’s put on some music’ but we had no radio. So finally I said ‘let’s go to bed’ and all we had was a futon mattress on the floor and he said, ‘I’m trying to be romantic because I’m trying to propose to you!’ And then it was the best kiss.” – Kathleen
Jaimin
“My first one. We were in my room and she was much older than me and it was unexpected. She made the first move which was why it was good, it caught me by surprise.”
