I have to imagine that the world was not always like this. People working grinding, soul crushing jobs they hate to get to the almighty dollar. Consumers filling their houses, their garages, their rented-storage spaces with all of the stuff that they were told they needed in order to feel happy. Social media rats carefully arranging their lives in a way that looks visually appealing when in front of a camera lens. We are overfed yet under nourished. Over stimulated, yet bored out of our minds. We own everything money could buy, and yet we have nothing.
Steve Cutts is an illustrator and animator from London, who specializes in videos and images that criticize modern life. The current state of humanity has given him an endless pool of ideas and inspiration. These photos criticize a way of life we all know well, but also encourage people to not be this way – to break free from what has become the “typical American” way of life.
