One More Wear Foundation is a charity focused on distributing clothing to youth and young adults who are struggling with poverty in the Greater Toronto Area. The charity is surrounded by the ideology that having accessible clothing can provide employment and enjoyment to young adults in Toronto and help end youth poverty.
The charity recognizes the coalition between clothing, fashion and self-esteem for young people, and strives to combat the peer pressure and bullying in schools that is caused by apparel trends set by the media and celebrity culture. The company aims to educate young adults on the impact and importance of a professional image and first impressions. Creating self-sufficient youth by strengthening their ability to search for jobs and create lifelong interview skills.
One More Wear was started by Jason Miller and Andrew Miller. Jason is the Executive Director and founder of the company. He is an award-winning Social Work graduate and has a gift for connecting and engaging the youth of Toronto. Jason combined his love of fashion with his passion for social and community engagement. Youth today face more economic challenges than ever before. Jason believes that providing kids with the right clothes can instill them with the empowerment that can help them succeed.
Andrew is a journalism graduate who became the director of communications of the publication he created. He has connected with major corporations like Microsoft, Xbox and Canada Goose. Andrew is the Co-founder and Director of Media Relations at One More Wear.
On top of One More Wears charitable efforts towards youth, they are also trying to end the stigma around second-hand clothing. By ending this stigma, One More Wear promotes the economic benefits of re-using clothing and counteracts the consumerist culture that promotes excessive consumption and unethical production associated with new items.
You can donate clothes, money or contribute by purchasing one of their many bow ties featured on their site.
