Maybe you’ve heard that Croatia has a lot to offer: it’s full of surprises, very diverse, has excellent summer festivals, and the beaches are mesmerizing. Sure, it’s a beautiful place to spend your vacation, but, theoretically, you have a dog and do not know how to handle this situation. Usually, when somebody says “dog beach” the first idea is: it kinds of smells funny and is in the middle of nowhere. Well, not this one: Monty’s Dog Beach is situated in the heart of a small coastal city and has a fully functioning bar – for your lovely four-legged friend!
Monty’s Beach Bar is a giant dog house with a lounge area open for dogs and owners. They offer unique dog beer, ice-cream, chips or herbal teas. You can even order a pizza for your dog and don’t feel bad about it. We are all aware of all the foods that are no good for dogs. Somehow, we can not stop feeding them with it because “they are so sweet and need that ice cream cone I’m holding.” Well, not anymore. This place offers the menu your dog deserves. Being dog owners themselves, owners of the bar had the perfect idea of planning a spot for the best day in a dog’s life.
The turnaround happened in 2011. The City Council decided to allocate one of the beaches in the heart of the town to dog owners. It’s located on a peninsula just east of Crikvenica’s town square and promenade. It has a perfect view over the harbor, the city itself and the beautiful island of Krk. While you’re enjoying the crystal clear water and sunbathing, your furry companion can make friends, enjoy the perfect dog booze and bites and even record everything with a go-pro cam. Now, Crikvenica is getting its status as a perfect vacation place for dog owners not just because of the beach, but for the dog parks, dog hotel and rising number of pet-friendly rentals.
