Photos by Rebecca Bathory
In 2012, Rebecca Bathory found her passion for capturing decaying buildings on film. Travelling to over 20 countries, she went to over 300 abandoned buildings to capture the beauty that is found in the dark and decaying. Rebecca finds ways into the buildings that people usually pass right by. The “no trespassing” signs and fences that keep people out have allowed nature to reclaim the buildings. Her photos represent a clash between the past and the present, and have an almost otherworldly quality to them.

The House of Wheelchairs in Germany used to house the sick and elderly near the end of their lives. The apparent reason behind the abandonment was a patient falling to her death down concrete steps.
