Donald Trump, billionaire entrepreneur, TV personality, and “the greatest jobs president that God ever created,” officially announced his candidacy for President of the United States on June 16th. In other news, the public polled online that they would rather have an avocado running their country.
On July 1st, the public took their political stance on Twitter after an account called AvocadoFact tweeted “Who would you rather have in office? rt for an avocado. fav for donald trump?” So far, the avocado is way in the lead with 83,654 retweets and Trump is left lonely with 8,305 favourites.
Sparking his recent spew of unpopularity were racist comments that he made towards Mexican immigrants during his presidential announcement.
“When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best,” he said. “They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists.”
What made the situation worse was the complete lack of remorse or embarrassment expressed afterwards.
On June 25th, Univision Communications Inc., a Spanish Television Network, wanted to remove all ties with the Miss Universe Organization because of it being partially owned by the Trump Organization.
“Today, the entertainment division of Univision Communications Inc. announced that it is ending the Company’s business relationship with the Miss Universe Organization, which is part-owned by Donald J. Trump, based on his recent, insulting remarks about Mexican immigrants,” the company said. “At Univision, we see first-hand the work ethic, love for family, strong religious values and the important role Mexican immigrants and Mexican-Americans have had and will continue to have in building the future of our country. We will not be airing the Miss USA pageant on July 12th or working on any other projects tied to the Trump Organization.”
Again, without any remorse, Trump’s first reaction was that Univision’s acts were a breach of contract and that he would sue them, which he did officially on June 30th, along with publicly announcing it over Instagram.
He just keeps digging himself into a deeper and deeper hole, hopefully deep enough for the public to not be able to hear any more offensive comments from the combover king.
Guacamole actually sounds pretty good right now.
