If you were to stand at the back of any large college classroom, you would likely be looking out over a sea of Facebook profiles, online games and YouTube videos. Though it’s easiest to type your notes on the computer, it’s probably also the least effective. Not only due to distractions, either. The motion of writing by hand sends information to our brains in a way that allows it to better solidify in our minds. Still, if you’re like me, your organization skills resemble something close to that of a pen strapped to a firehose on full blast with a piece of paper in front of it. Needless to say, there are specific ways to organize your note-taking to get the most out of it.
