These photos will take you on a tour through the majestic Appalachian Trail

It’s roughly 2,190 miles and 14 states of grueling work and unforgettable sites.
With everything from the southern hospitality in Georgia all the way through exquisite mountain ranges to Baxter State Park in Maine, it’s no wonder that the Appalachian Trail has three million visitors every single year.
Now, before you strap on your hiking boots and hit the trail, there are some factors that you should be aware of.
First of all, it takes roughly five to seven months to actually hike the entire trail. Only about 25% of people that set out to hike all the way through actually make it.
However, don’t let that devastate you. There are options for day hikes and shorter excursions.
And if you’re too lazy to even leave the couch or you need a little extra piece of motivation, these photos will take you through the Appalachian Trail.
The trail starts near the northeast tip of Georgia.
Next, you’ll hike through North Carolina.
You’ll dip into Tennessee and reach the summit of Big Bald in the Bald Mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee.
Then, you’ll hike almost straight through Virginia with a stop at the famous McAfee Knob.
While in Virginia, you’ll have two small segments in West Virginia.
If you plan your trip just right, you’ll pass through Maryland in the fall and see some beautiful colors.
You’ll reach the halfway point somewhere in Pennsylvania.
Then, you’ll take a short excursion into New Jersey.
Next, you’ll cut through the countryside of New York, not to be confused with New York City.
After New York, you’ll go through the northwestern tip of Connecticut.
Then you’ll travel through the west side of Massachusetts.
Next you’ll head through Vermont, with the finish line practically in site.
After Vermont, you’ll hike through New Hampshire.
Finally, you’ll end the trail at Baxter State Park, Maine.
