As Gandalf lead the fellowship across Middle Earth, Akhil Suhas is channeling the character to lead us across New Zealand, the trilogy’s real life setting.
“I wanted a recurring subject in my photos and with so many photographers visiting the country, I figured that I needed to do something to set me apart” said Suhas. With a staff in hand Suhas is showcasing the beautiful diversity of the country over his 6-month long journey.
You may realize that all the Gandalfs shown below look slightly different. After trying dressing up himself and using a tripod to take photos Suhas realized that he wasn’t getting the pictures he wanted. He decided to start asking strangers who he’d met on his travels to don the hat and cloak and to his surprised many obliged.
