What would you do if you were away from your house and the construction crew working on your garage found a tiny casket? That’s exactly what Ericka Karner came home to. Thus began a mystery that captured the imagination of her neighborhood and the country. Their curiosity got to them as they found a little girl inside who was relatively well preserved. The neighbourhood used to be home to hundreds of gravesites before it was closed and moved to make room for Richmond District. But some of them were left behind, and that’s when Ericka Karner’s life has been forever changed.
After finding out it was now her responsibility to rebury this girl. Ericka struggled to figure out what to do until she met Davey from Garden of Innocence. Garden of Innocence is a group that helps to organize and put on funerals for abandoned kids. The funerals are all paid for by donations and they wanted to help Ericka give the child the best resting place they could. They held a funeral for the girl who passed away over one hundred years ago.
To their surprise, people from all over came to pay their respects to this mystery toddler they named Miranda Eve. No one knew this girl, but they all came out to celebrate her life and show the love they have for a stranger. Every child deserves to have people there for them. Even if those people are all strangers, they all came out to commemorate a girl they don’t have memories of.
