In the consumeristic vortex of modern life, it’s important to constantly remind ourselves that, despite the encouragement of blinking advertisements and slick marketing specialists, for-profit business is rarely erected out of the kindness of the CEO’s heart—and some will do anything to stuff their pockets with your dollars. For whatever inconceivable reason, many corporations’ marketing efforts are still granted the latitude to make wild, falsified claims about products that have the potential to hurt customers, or at least, push useless crap on them in exchange for their hard earned savings. Granted, to some extent it is the customers’ fault if they legitimately think those ridiculous Sketchers “toning shoes” will give them the body of Serena Williams just by walking around and going about their daily business. We should all be very aware at this point that you can’t get something from nothing, and if it sounds too good to be true, then it is. However, some of the shit that these companies pull off is just plain shameful.
