Beardtruck Films’ Art as a Weapon is a documentary series examining the power of art in the volatile Southeast Asia state Burma (Myanmar).
The sixth part of the series, “Freedom to Lead”, is devoted to Aung San Suu Kyi, an English-Burmese political leader who has been fighting for true democracy in Burma since the late 80s. Due to her fight for democratic rights, she has been under house arrest off-and-on for 15 of the 27 years she has been in the country. She has become an inspirational figure for the youth of Burma, and luckily, things appear to be looking up for both her and the country—in 2012, she was elected to the Burmese Parliament, to finally do the good that she always desired.
