Singapore-based Ingehoven Architects and A61 have designed a new series of residential towers for the Marina Bay area – a 360-hectare extension of the adjacent central business district.
The design, known as Marina One, will boast lush greenery on every floor, appearing to onlookers as a stunning, plant-covered mountain.
According to Inhabitat, the urban residence will be getting its green makeover from landscape firm, Gustafson Porter.
The project will bring four towers together surrounding an atrium, and will feature extensive gardens, green walls, waterfalls and rooftop cloud forests.
Once constructed, the residence would become the largest green urban sanctuary in the rapidly developing business district.
Nicknamed the “Green Heart,” the area would become a tranquil escape for the residents – who are normally surrounded by mountains of concrete.
The wavy balconies and a ramp will weave around a pool and waterfalls in the centre of the atrium, leading from a shopping centre to the residences and public roof garden, according to Dezeen. The terraces at the top of the buildings will be called cloud forests.
“In the Cloud Forests, one can escape the activity and movement of people at the base of the building and find a relaxed setting for daytime and evening socializing,” the architects told Dezeen. They also added that the green “mountaintop” would be filled with climbing vegetation to screen service facilities from view and provide habitats for insects and birds.
