A new year is here filled with fresh starts, new year’s resolutions, and perhaps a few hangovers. If you’re one of the lucky ones, you already have travel plans for 2017. If you haven’t planned anything yet, maybe you’re still deciding between relaxing on a beach versus climbing a mountain; or maybe you don’t know if you’ll be travelling at all this year. Well, lots of Americans will be travelling and know exactly where, because according to data from Newlio, they can already predict American travel trends in 2017.
Choice Hotels International released an infographic showing the predicting travel trends from Newlio. Over 1,000 Americans were surveyed and some of the results were surprising, while others I could’ve guessed.
Surprising: only half of Americans would give up daily coffee or give up all of their holidays gifts for travel in return for an all-expenses paid dream trip.
Not surprising: millennials prefer beach and urban destinations, as opposed to baby boomers who would rather get their hands dirty and take a road less travelled (hello, Instagram generation, I know you want a beach picture on your page).
Either way, the survey found that travel budgets are up over 42 per cent over 2016, from $3,572 to $5,063, and the average American will take three trips in 2017. Here’s hoping that I’m in that bracket.
