Wildlife can be hard to come by in the concrete jungle—until last weekend, when endangered species were projected onto the Empire State Building.
Filmmakers of “Racing Extinction” used New York City’s tallest building as a platform to display a tribute to Cecil the lion and to raise awareness of over 100 endangered animals.
Through this pictorial light show, people of all ages gathered around to admire these species.
The saying “it’s better to light one candle than curse the darkness” rings true: this is exactly what was accomplished on the weekend.
Rather than cursing the dentist that killed Cecil, this light show honoured the lion and also displayed the beauty of the endangered species that need our attention.
The light show left New York City in awe, and pictures of the spectacle have been viewed and shared by people all over the world. The show not only reminds us of the beauty of the wild, but also the fragility of endangered species by being a platform for education and awareness.
