Obviously, today’s society is obsessed with being as productive as possible. We try to maximize every minute of the day by squeezing as many tasks as we can into one. While we eat lunch we’re also checking emails and streaming TV shows. While completing assignments we also answer texts and scroll through Facebook. As much as we may believe we’re multitasking, research shows there’s really nothing productive in trying to perform tasks this way—we actually slow ourselves down. Vanessa Hill explores this finding in BrainCraft’s video ‘How Many Things Can You Actually Do At Once?’ The short video reveals how we’re actually ‘task switching’ instead of multitasking when we do things this way, and how ‘super taskers,’ (people with the unique blend of attention, memory and concentration) are the only ones who are actually able to multitask. Find out whether you’re a ‘super tasker’, or simply task switching by taking part in the experiment from the video below.
