Pre-Gulf War, Westerners were very segregated from the Saudi population. We lived on compounds with armed guards. There we lived very Western lives. (Some Americans and Brits would make alcohol, such as beer or wine in their bathrooms. Sid – short for siddiqui meaning friend in Arabic – is basically moonshine.)
